Global Opportunity Explorer Club

We are creating a global network of Global Opportunity Explorer Clubs to create local activities, such as Opportunity Days around the world, where students have the chance to interact with businesses and policy makers over key themes of particular interest to them.

Sustainia, a co-founder of the Global Opportunity Explorer, is on hand to guide the academic institutions and students with themes for the Opportunity Days, and continuously provide new and innovative solutions, strategies, and mindsets for the consumption and deliberation of students.

What do you need to set up a local Global Opportunity Explorer Club and organise your first Opportunity day?

1. Passionate students

Every Global Opportunity Explorer Club (hereafter, Opportunity Club) needs at least one passionate and dedicated student at an academic institution. With that in place, simply connect with Sustainia to get the ball rolling and set a date for the first Opportunity Day. Sustainia helps with guidance and content while the students are responsible for event planning and coordination, and building up some excitement ahead of the Day. Sustainia will also ensure each club has its own space on the Global Opportunity Explorer to showcase the work being done.

2. Sustainia

As a co-founder of the Global Opportunity Explorer and sustainability advisor to companies and municipalities around the world, Sustainia provides the backbone of the content and structure for the events, helps to provide funding via corporate sponsors for events and activities, and is on hand to advise on event success.

3. Corporate Sponsors

Corporate sponsors provide the financial lubrication to make the Global Opportunity Explorer wheels spin. Businesses find themselves in a unique period of change, are keen to hear views from current students and academics engaged in sustainability, want to position themselves as sustainability leaders and always want to recruit the best new talent from universities. Sponsors will have the opportunity to receive visibility in the run up and during the event, and will have the opportunity to feature amongst the events of the day.

Frequently asked questions

Absolutely, all you need to do is find one staff member from the university who is also happy to help out with some of the logistics of arranging Global Opportunity Days, then you can apply through the Sustainia website to begin setting up your first Opportunity Club.

As a pioneer of the Global Opportunity Explorer Club you will be able to partake in cutting edge topics in sustainability, have the opportunity to network with businesses and policy makers attending the Days, and gain invaluable skills in sustainability that businesses are looking for in future hires. Not only will you build your resumé through club activities, you will also be affiliated with an alumni group that spans the globe.

The Global Opportunity Explorer was founded on the premise that there are huge opportunities behind the risks currently facing the world. This risk-to-opportunity mindset informs everything in the Global Opportunity Days. Sustainia can provide themes and material to explore in the Global Opportunity Days but if there is a particular area of interest from the students then this can also form the theme for the Day. The core idea is to feature pioneering companies who are addressing challenges with an opportunity mindset, and engage the passionate and ambitious student communities to push these companies further, through questions, debates, and interviews. Once an engaging theme is set, students work with Sustainia and the university to choose the best attendees and individual parts of the Day.

An Opportunity Day can be organised as quickly as it takes to find corporate sponsors to engage in the event. If students or universities have connections to companies who are already interested in participating then Sustainia can help to put together a highly engaging event in as little as two weeks. We suggest a minimum of one-two months as a comfortable length of time to put on a great show.

This is completely up to you. Once a year, every six months, or quarterly. Sustainia is happy to provide engaging content for as many Days as you’d like.
