Drivy is a peer-to-peer car renting application that helps people save money and make better use of existing resources.

Drivy’s car renting platform currently operates in France, Germany, Portugal, Spain and the UK, where people rent out their own cars. The platform is available online with a location-based mobile app.

Drivy helps people who don’t want to own a car to find one to go e.g. on a holiday weekend trip in their neighborhood. They can rent it cheaply from someone else.

Paulin Dementhon – Founder, Drivy

The service matches people ready to share their car with people looking for a car to rent by the hour or by the day. To ensure quality and trust, after each rental, drivers rate the cars, and the owners rate the drivers, building a vehicle and driver history. The company also covers liability insurance.

Why you should care

Renting underused vehicles in this way means fewer cars on the streets, less traffic jams, and less pollution. Car production can often create as much greenhouse gas as driving it. Drivy reduces the need for car production and differs from other carsharing platforms, as the solution doesn’t add cars to the streets, but simply makes better use of cars already on the road.

How the Global Goals are addressed

Responsible Consumption and Production
In Germany there are more than 500 passenger vehicles per 1,000 people. Drivy is helping to reduce the ratio of cars to people, to make more use out of resources.

Climate action
Producing a new car can incur large carbon costs. For every car that Drivy can prevent being produced and purchased, tens of tons of CO2 are saved.
