The affordable healthcare kits developed by ayzh ensure improved reproductive, maternal, newborn, child, and adolescent health in developing countries.

With a mission to bring simplicity and dignity to women’s health worldwide, ayzh (pronounced “eyes”) manufactures low-cost and high-quality healthcare kits. These are carefully designed to address the entire continuum of reproductive, maternal, newborn, child and adolescent health, improving both health and livelihoods in low-resource settings. For example, their $3 Clean Birth Kit provides birth attendants with the tools needed to prevent infection – a leading cause of maternal and infant mortality – at the time of childbirth, and comes packaged in a biodegradable jute bag that mothers reuse as a purse. Their kits use a checklist approach that saves time and creates sterility regardless of facility conditions.

They sell these kits of essentials to a range of individuals and healthcare facilities, to ensure products are available at the right time and place, thus addressing the critical needs of women and healthcare workers in remote communities. They engage and empower women with information and education by providing tools and training. In a sector dominated by philanthropic efforts, their business model is sustainable, replicable and scalable.

As my knowledge and expertize in my field has grown, I see that there is a compelling desire for low-cost, quality health products customized for the developing world.

Why you should care

Approximately 830 women die from pregnancy- or childbirth-related complications around the world every day, with 99% of these deaths occurring in developing countries. Women and babies face many critical challenges to their health and well-being, especially in areas lacking access to simple, affordable, essential health commodities and services. Since 2010, ayzh has attracted clients and strategic partners from around the world, putting over 240,000 kits into the hands of the women and healthcare workers who need them the most.

How the Global Goals are addressed

Good health and well-being
Ayzh’s kits increase access to the essential tools needed for basic maternal and neonatal healthcare needs, in hospitals, communities and homes.

Gender equality
The low-cost kits and training provided by ayzh, not only empower women but also reduce the health risks associated with pregnancy and childcare.

Reduced inequalities
Ayzh focuses on strengthening the supply chain for ‘last mile’ distribution in areas that typically lack access to quality healthcare, making their products available at the right place, time, and price.
