The ARUN solar concentrator from Clique Solar harnesses the power of the sun to heat water and air to high temperatures for industrial purposes. By combining design concepts from a magnifying glass and a sunflower, the ARUN solar dish is able to concentrate sunlight. This concentrated solar power technology involves a parabolic dish of mirrors that focuses sunlight to a single point and heats liquids and gases up to 350°C. Like a sunflower, the ARUN solar concentrator tracks the sun and can rotate in a north-south and east-west direction to maximize energy input. Occupying a ground area of just 9 m2, the ARUN solar dish is a flexible solution that can be installed in a wide variety of settings. It can be used wherever hot water, steam or air are required, such as for industrial process heating and community cooking. The technology can also be used to power refrigeration systems. Why you should care The industrial sector consumes as much as 30% of global energy supply, and generating process heat accounts for the majority of that share. The ARUN concentrated solar power technology can replace boilers which are fueled with furnace oil, diesel, coal or natural gas. With an expected life of more than 25 years, the ARUN saves fuel worth more than its capital expenses. The ARUN has an efficiency of 60%-65%, which is better than most other concentrated solar power technologies, reports Clique Solar.
